The FireFly's Light

It gives me great pleasure to present my newest book:

‘The FireFly’s Light’ publishing 12th October 2023

‘It is that as existing inventions have been anticipated by Nature,

so it will surely be found that in Nature lie the prototypes of inventions not yet revealed to man.

The great discoveries of the future will, therefore, be those who will look to Nature for Art,

Science or Mechanics, instead of taking pride in some new invention,

and they will find that it existed in Nature for countless centuries.’ — Rev. J.G Wood, 1895

We have always looked to nature to inspire us.

This is commonly known as Biomimicry: To mimic or make a copy of nature. Many of the significant inventions in human history have found their beginnings in nature.

We can’t help but be awe-struck by the majesty and beauty of the natural world and the delicate creative balance it displays.

The aeroplane, Velcro, the Bullet Train, the magic of bees and the incredible structures found in the natural world have captured our imaginations and inspired us to create, to bring forth products, art, machinery, technology that have changed the face of the earth and propelled significant change and progress.

This book is a celebration of inventions inspired by nature but it also begs the question:

Can we create a softer, less intrusive, eco-friendlier world by simply looking to the design already in nature?
